Nurse Call System (Fall 2015)

Nurse Call System (Fall 2015)

Nurse Call System

Hundreds of times every day, patients at Georgian Bay General Hospital call for a nurse, whether to ask a question, ask for help getting out of bed or alert staff to a problem.  The nurse call system is a communication lifeline; it provides patients with a fast and immediate connection to a nurse no matter where they are on the unit and that means they can react more quickly to attend to the needs of those in their care.

The 40-year-old call system on 2 North was unreliable and when it began to work only intermittently it became a risk the hospital needed to address immediately. The new call system is already having a major positive impact on patient care. There are additional units in the shower and tub rooms, and negative pressure isolation room to allow staff to talk to patients in these areas as well, satellite units in the halls mean nurses can respond to calls from anywhere on the unit, and the updated command centre is far more efficient and user-friendly.

We need your help.

This new system cost $106,587. As you may know, Provincial Government funding does not pay for equipment in hospitals, so we rely on our community to help fund the equipment that we use to provide the best care to our patients every day.
