It’s the happiest day of the year! This year marks the 30th McHappy Day for McDonald’s Canada. It is the company’s longest running and largest charitable initiative with more than 1,400 McDonald’s restaurants celebrating McHappy Day this year.
On McHappy Day®, our local McDonalds restaurants in Midland and Elmvale donate a percentage of total food sales to Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation.
This year, McHappy Day proceeds to the GBGH Foundation will be invested to help bring MRI technology to our hospital.

History of McHappy Day & the GBGH Foundation
In 2018, Carol and Mark Cruden first partnered with the GBGH Foundation by directing a portion of McHappy Day proceeds to support the hospital’s smallest patients. To date, they have raised more than $74,500 for GBGH, helping to build a children’s play area in the ED at GBGH, investing in the purchase of items for the hospital’s Birthing Unit, and helping to bring an MRI machine to GBGH.
