In February 2020, the Foundation launched Business
Cares, a program designed to provide businesses with
the opportunity to support the hospital in whatever ways
work best for their unique business. Our partners have the
flexibility to build their brand, while having a great impact
on patient care at Georgian Bay General Hospital.
The principle of this program is simple, yet powerful in its
multiplier effect. When a consumer makes a purchase
from the Business Cares Partner, a portion of the purchase
(unique to each partner) directly supports our community
hospital.
From facilitating employee giving, to donations based
on referrals or product sales, the program has gained
significant traction since it was introduced.
Linda Chaplin and Jenna Lorette, from The Mortgage Centre, were one of the first
partners to express interest in the program, and have committed to donating $25, $50,
$75 or $100 on the close of each mortgage in honour of the mortgage client. In just a few
short months, they have donated more than $1,000 to the hospital.
Most recently, Paula Meredis, owner of Saturday Afternoons in Midland, began
promoting her Business Cares initiative. Five dollars from the sale of each “Stay
Home Stay Safe” Candle Sand Kit will be donated to the GBGH Foundation, and
can be ordered online at saturdayafternoons.ca or in the store.
Other great examples of Business Cares initiatives include donations for every
referral (WellSwept Chimneys), facilitating employee giving for GBGH (Central
Spa), offering a service in exchange for donations (#TheFrontStepsProject)
or holding an event to raise funds (Harvey’s).
