MESSAGE FROM GBGH FOUNDATION
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NICOLE KRAFTSCIK

AND BOARD CHAIR DAVID TURNER

As we reflect on the first half of 2020, we are so thankful to live in such a safe, supportive community. Through generous
support for our Giving Tuesday & holiday appeals at the end of 2019, we had much to celebrate in January. And, in February,
thanks in part to the generosity of the late Gil Robillard and his family, the Foundation was able to purchase the 22 acres of
vacant land adjacent to the hospital, investing in the future of healthcare in North Simcoe and ensuring sufficient space
when there is a need to expand.

Then, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world as we knew it. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, donors,
partners and volunteers, we made the difficult decision to cancel our events, donor meetings and hospital tours. As we
adapted to the new landscape, we are so thankful to our community for staying connected, digging deep and supporting
in whatever ways you are able.

Today, our hospital is in the process of rescheduling elective surgeries, procedures and diagnostic testing. As the re-
opening process gets underway, we are going to need the support of our community more than ever. The pandemic
preparedness investment at GBGH was significant, putting strain on our limited financial resources and capital budget.
But, our teams at GBGH need the right tools to provide exceptional care, especially in a post-pandemic landscape, and we
are committed to supporting them every step of the way.

We know that you will continue to stand with us, support our hospital and help our community thrive as we look to the
future. Your generosity gives us hope in a world that has seen so much turmoil this year. We are committed to moving
forward in the spirit of inclusivity, compassion and understanding as we continue with the important task of ensuring a
strong future for healthcare in North Simcoe.
