REASONS TO
Celebrate!
KICKSTART YOUR HEART
In February, our community rallied to Kickstart the Hearts of patients at GBGH!
Thanks to a generous match gift of $100,000 from Conrad & Donna Huber, $25,000
gifts from Weber Manufacturing and Alan & Alison Fryer, and the incredible support
of the community and local businesses, $184,000 was raised in just 2 weeks!
These funds have helped us to complete the project of purchasing life-saving crash
carts and defibrillators, allowing care teams at GBGH to deliver critical medication
and transport life-saving equipment to the site of a medical emergency quickly and
efficiently within the hospital.
McHAPPY DAY
On May 11, 2022, McDonald’s restaurants in Midland and Elmvale partnered with the
®
GBGH Foundation for McHappy Day . The one-day event raised $26,000! The GBGH
Foundation received $13,000 to purchase safe, reliable Phototherapy Light Systems
used to help newborns with Hyperbilirubinemia (Jaundice). The remaining funds
support Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto.
GAIL LA CHAPELLE EDUCATION FUND RECIPIENTS
Each year, the GBGH Foundation awards monies from the Gail La Chapelle
Education Grant and Bursary Fund to nursing staff to continue their education.
The Bursary provides $1,000 in funding for RNs & RPNs advancing in their senior
year of Nursing or pursuing a Masters degree. The Education Grant provides
financial assistance for courses including palliative care, trauma nursing,
advanced cardiac life support, perioperative nursing, critical care nursing and
wound care. This year’s recipients received a total of $5,000 toward continuing
their education and advancing their skills.

SPRING APPEAL LETTER & VIDEO
In March 2022, the Foundation shared a letter with the community signed by
Emergency Department Nurse, Lisa Davies. Her insight on a day in the Emergency
Department was a powerful testament to the struggles and challenges of the GBGH
teams, but also highlighted how caring and dedicated the team is to our patients.
We are happy to celebrate that her inspiring message has helped to raise $60,190
for the most critical equipment and capital priorities at GBGH!
