GBGHF FUNDRAISING PRIORITIES

Providing each patient at GBGH with exceptional care is possible when our
compassionate, dedicated team members are equipped with the right equipment,
education and infrastructure for diagnosis, assessment and treatment.
This year, here are some of the highest priorities to empower our care teams:

WELLNESS

GBGH has a very high volume of mental health patients through our Emergency Department, seeing approximately
1,700 patients annually, and yet, our hospital is not equipped or funded to provide acute mental health care.

GBGH is in the process of a Capital Submission to the Ministry of Health to request a comprehensive acute mental
health program for our community.

EDUCATION & RECRUITMENT

Gail La Chapelle Education Funding
“The Family and Friends of Gail La Chapelle Education Fund” is committed to investing in the future of nursing at GBGH.
Each year, a bursary and a limited number of education grants are awarded to help nurses with their financial costs
of education.

Robbert Hartog Innovation in Healthcare Fund
Honouring the legacy of Robbert Hartog, this fund provides an annual award to 1-3 GBGH team members who work
tirelessly on behalf of GBGH. The financial award is provided to help recipients invest in ongoing education and
personal development.
Physician Recruitment
Our Community & Hospital will require more than 20 new family physicians & specialists over the next five years. A
donation to the Physician Recruitment Fund ensures that the Georgian Bay Physician Recruitment program can offer
an unparalleled experience when a candidate is exploring North Simcoe and GBGH, leading to higher recruitment
effectiveness and better overall physician retention.
