Hospital.
In 2022, the award was presented to two recipients: Dr. David Bayfield, Emergency Physician and Chief Medical

Dr. David Bayfield is recognized for his many years of leadership in the Emergency Department, as well as for his
advocacy and dedication to the implementation of the CARE4 (Health Information System) Project.
Chris Lembo-Berry is recognized for his commitment and dedication to supporting the hospital team, and

YOUR IMPACT
PATIENT BATHTUB
Thanks to Nick & Marina Boudouris (OPA Catering, World Famous Dock Lunch & Pier 21 Restaurant) and
everyone who made a donation for Giving Tuesday, a new therapeutic patient bathtub has been ordered for
the 2N inpatient unit at GBGH! The new recumbent bathing system features a keyhole shape to give patients
more room for their arms & shoulders, hydrosound (ultrasound generated bubbles) for cleaning sensitive skin,
adjustable height, foot support and pillow, two shower wands with pressure and temperature control and loads
of safety features!
MICROSCOPE
Our local Tiny Township Lions Club generously donated the $7,523 needed to purchase a brand new microscope
for the Laboratory. The microscope at GBGH is utilized 24 hour per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. This
vital analytical tool allows lab technicians to manually review, interpret and make clinical determinations for
urine samples, hematology results or matching blood samples for transfusion. The new microscope has better
optics, includes video functionality to view work on a computer screen and is much more ergonomic. Thank
you Lions!
FRESHFLEX TM
In 2022, GBGH launched Freshflex™, a new meal program for patients at the hospital. Implemented in
partnership with food services provider Aramark, Freshflex™ is an innovative menu system built on the belief
that fresh, flavourful and nutritious meals are an important part of everyone’s healthcare journey. One of the
most critical parts of the program is the equipment, including two specialized ovens and a blast chiller, which
were purchased with funds raised from the community through the GBGH Foundation. The new menu includes
more than 35 chef-inspired recipes, which use fresh, local ingredients that are prepared each day by the GBGH
Food Services team.
