During labour and delivery, every heartbeat matters.
Continuous monitoring of both mother and baby is
essential to ensuring a safe birth experience and
responding quickly if concerns arise. Fetal Health &
Maternal (FHM) monitoring systems track fetal heart

rate and uterine activity, providing care teams with
critical information throughout labour.

GBGH currently has three FHM systems in use, along
with a dedicated unit for transfers to the operating
room. Two of these systems have reached end of
life, and one is already beyond repair. We need to
replace these systems now to protect the wellbeing
of mothers and babies during one of life’s most
important moments.

The new wireless FHM systems allow mothers to
move freely during labour—including walking or using
a birthing tub—while still maintaining continuous
monitoring. With your support, we can replace these
essential systems and ensure every family receives

safe, responsive, and compassionate care during
childbirth.
