Did you know that the Georgian Bay General Hospital Volunteer Association (GBGHVA) is also one of the hospital’s largest annual donors? Last year (2018), the Volunteer Association raised more than $90,000 for the hospital’s general equipment fund. This is critical as all the equipment used for patient care is 100 per cent the responsibility of the community.
The volunteers raise funds thanks to the dedication of their members who not only fulfill their volunteer shifts around the hospital, but go above and beyond – assisting with fundraisers like bake sales, raffles and clothing drives (don’t forget to bring your old clothes to GBGH’s main entrance).
On April 10, GBGH & the GBGH Foundation celebrated the incredible Volunteer Association during National Volunteer Week. An integral part of the GBGH team, some of hospital’s 185-person volunteer force were honoured with a dinner. In the past year, GBGH’s volunteers have generously contributed more than 35,000 hours of their time (equivalent to $500,000 in salaries!).
Thank you to all our volunteers for thousands of hours and thousands of smiles. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
