For GBGH Foundation Board member Adele, supporting local healthcare is rooted in gratitude.
After experiencing the compassionate care provided to her husband and family during a difficult time, she felt a strong desire to give back to the hospital and community that had been there when they needed it most.
When Adele retired, she began looking for meaningful ways to become more involved in the community she calls home. With previous board experience and encouragement from a neighbour already serving on the GBGH Foundation Board, joining the Foundation felt like a natural fit. Today, Adele brings her passion for community-building to both her role on the Board and the partnership events she organizes throughout the year.
“I love bringing people together—whether it’s for a meal or a good cause. This way, we get to do both!”
One of the things she enjoys most is creating opportunities for people to come together. Whether gathering around a shared meal, attending a special event, or supporting a local cause, Adele believes those connections strengthen the community while making a lasting impact on our community hospital.
Partnership events are a great example of that impact. Beyond raising essential funds for equipment, technology, and patient care, they bring together neighbours, friends, businesses, and supporters who share a commitment to local healthcare. Every ticket purchased, donation made, and event attended helps ensure excellent care is available when it matters most.
For Adele, there is something especially meaningful about knowing that those who support these events are helping build a stronger hospital for everyone. The same people who attend a fundraiser today may one day benefit from the equipment, services, and care their generosity helped make possible.
Her motivation remains simple: to give back to the community that supported her family through one of life’s most challenging moments.
Through her dedication, leadership, and belief in the power of connection, Adele is helping ensure excellent care remains close to home for generations to come.
