Maple Leaf Marinas Strengthens Community Through Partnership with GBGH Foundation

For Maple Leaf Marinas, being part of the boating community means more than time enjoyed on the water. Through its support of local hospitals and partnership with the GBGH Foundation, the marina group is helping build a stronger future for local health care.

This summer, their 7th annual Fuel Your Hospital fundraiser brought boaters together over the Civic Holiday long weekend to raise more than $36,000 for six local hospitals. Through the initiative, boaters fuelled up at participating Maple Leaf Marinas and had the opportunity to give back to the hospitals that care for their communities.

The GBGH Foundation received $11,918.43 this summer to support Georgian Bay General Hospital, and since the fundraiser began seven years ago, Fuel Your Hospital has raised more than $75,500 for GBGH.

Maple Leaf Marinas’ partnership with the Foundation extends beyond Fuel Your Hospital. Wye Heritage Marine Resort, part of the Maple Leaf Marinas group, hosted the Foundation’s Power of Giving event this year, providing a beautiful setting and experience for members of the community to enjoy.

“At Maple Leaf Marinas, we believe that being part of a community means giving back to it. Georgian Bay General Hospital plays such an important role in the lives of our employees, customers and neighbours. Whether through fundraising, community initiatives or direct support, we’re proud to contribute in ways that help ensure quality healthcare remains close to home for the people who need it most.” ~ Derek Lubert, President, Maple Leaf Marinas.

For the GBGH Foundation, this kind of support demonstrates how community partnerships can make a difference in many ways, from fundraising at the fuel dock to creating opportunities for people to connect and give back.

“We are incredibly grateful to Maple Leaf Marinas, Mayes Martin, and everyone who contributed to Fuel Your Hospital,” says Robyn Kaczanowski, Community Giving Officer, GBGH Foundation. “Having partners who support our work in different ways, including hosting our Power of Giving event at Wye Heritage, helps us bring people together around a shared commitment to the excellent care our families, friends and neighbours rely on.”

Thank you to Maple Leaf Marinas, Wye Heritage Marine Resort, fuel partner Mayes Martin, and the many boaters who continue to support the hospital that cares for our families, friends and neighbours.
