For Sue Duquette, celebrating her milestone birthday was about more than gathering family and friends. It was an opportunity to give back to a place that has been part of her life for nearly four decades.
Sue Duquette and George Lesperance recently presented a gift of $5,200 to the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation’s We See You campaign after turning Sue’s birthday celebration into an opportunity to support their local hospital. Instead of bringing gifts, guests were invited to make donations in support of GBGH, with Sue and George matching the contributions to maximize the impact.
For Sue, who has worked in Diagnostic Imaging at GBGH for 38 years, supporting the hospital meant so much. Her connection to the hospital is not simply professional. It is personal, shaped by decades of working alongside healthcare teams and being part of the patient journeys that unfold within its walls. That made celebrating her birthday by giving back feel like a natural choice.
Surrounded by family and friends on her birthday, including her children who travelled home for the occasion, Sue celebrated while giving back to a cause close to her heart. Special thanks to her husband George, whose planning and hard work helped make the event a success.
Their event is a beautiful reminder that there are many ways to make a difference, and that often the most meaningful gifts are the ones that bring people together around something they truly care about.
Thank you to Sue, George and everyone who chose to make a gift in Sue’s honour to support excellent care close to home.
