A Weekend of Celebration, A Lasting Impact

For the Tay Canada Day Committee, celebrating Canada Day is about more than bringing the community together for a day of fun. It’s also an opportunity to give back to the community they call home.

Members of the committee recently presented a $1,500 donation to the GBGH Foundation in support of the We See You: Inside & Out campaign, helping strengthen health care for patients and families across North Simcoe through investments in vital equipment, technology and acute mental health services at GBGH.

The committee has a longstanding tradition of supporting local health care. Over the years, proceeds from the annual Canada Day celebration have helped fund important initiatives at GBGH, including MRI fundraising efforts and the GBGH Foundation’s Impact Fund. Their latest gift continues that tradition of community generosity.

In 2026, the Tay Canada Day Committee distributed $20,000 among local charitable organizations, bringing its total community contributions to more than $200,000.

It’s a milestone that reflects the generosity of the community members, volunteers and local businesses who come together each year to make the Canada Day celebration possible.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the Tay Canada Day Committee for continuing to invest in the health and well-being of our community,” says Robyn Kaczanowski, community giving officer, GBGH Foundation. “Their support over the years has helped make important projects at GBGH possible, and their commitment is a wonderful example of how local celebrations can create lasting impact.”

Thank you to the Tay Canada Day Committee and everyone who has helped make their annual celebration such a meaningful part of our community. Your generosity is helping make excellent care close to home possible.
