TO GIVE

End of the GBGH 50/50

We are so grateful to every individual who has supported Georgian Bay General Hospital through the GBGH 50/50 over the past 2 years.

Tickets for our final draw can be purchased starting April 1, 2025 at GBGH5050.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the dates for the final GBGH 50/50 draw?
The final draw will launch on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 with the final jackpot draw on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Why is the GBGH 50/50 lottery ending?
We launched the GBGH 50/50 lottery in June 2023 to provide important funding for equipment and technology at Georgian Bay General Hospital.

Although the monthly draws have provided some revenue, the costs to operate the lottery greatly reduce the impact of every ticket purchase. After early bird prizes, fees and administration, only 25% of each ticket purchase is available to invest in our hospital.

To ensure the best support for GBGH, and our community, we are ending the GBGH 50/50 lottery to focus on other fundraising activities.

What other fundraising activities will replace the GBGH 50/50?
The GBGH Foundation is part of the Split the Pot Lottery. This Ontario-wide lottery directly supports Ontario Hospitals, giving participants the option to direct the proceeds from their tickets to the participating hospital of their choice or split between all participating hospitals. Similar to the GBGH 50/50, the draws take place monthly, but the early bird prizes and jackpots are MUCH bigger! Visit Split the Pot website.

Monthly Giving is also a great way to support GBGH, with very low administrative costs! Our monthly donors are a special group of people who choose to make an affordable gift every month, which collectively adds up to big impact each year. Plus, when you become a monthly donor, you receive an annual charitable tax receipt. Learn more about Monthly Giving here.

What impact has the GBGH 50/50 had on the hospital?
Over the past two years, the GBGH 50/50 proceeds have been invested in our MRI project.  Now that the fundraising for the MRI is complete, we are excited to celebrate that the GBGH 50/50 has helped to purchase an MRI safe wheelchair and MRI safe stretcher for GBGH.

Will there be another GBGH 50/50 in the future?
At this time, there are no plans to do another GBGH 50/50. However, the Foundation may consider occasional raffles or draws as part of other events & celebrations at some time in the future.
