This year’s Tay Canada Day Celebrations were more than just a chance to enjoy fireworks, music, and community fun. They were a powerful reminder of how generous and caring our region truly is.
Held over two days, the event brought together friends, families, and neighbours in support of local causes. And thanks to the incredible efforts of organizers, volunteers, and sponsors, a record-breaking $26,000 was raised — the largest amount ever distributed since the event began!
We are so proud and grateful to share that $13,000 is being donated to the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation, helping bring critical equipment and technology to our hospital. That’s a $4,500 increase from last year’s gift, proving that our community continues to rally behind care close to home.
“We’re incredibly honoured to be among the recipients of this year’s Tay Canada Day Celebration,” says Nicole Kraftscik, CEO of the GBGH Foundation. “This generous $13,000 gift will directly support the needs of our hospital and make a difference in the lives of thousands of patients right here in our community.”
In total, 12 local charities benefited from this year’s event, including Hospice Huronia, Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre, Tee Off with Tay, and other local clubs and initiatives — each one making an impact in their own way.
“It’s truly inspiring to see how one celebration can have such a meaningful impact,” adds Robyn Kaczanowski, Community Giving Officer at the Foundation. “On behalf of the entire GBGH Foundation team, thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. Your support means we can continue to provide excellent, personalized care for our community.”
