On Friday, April 24th, the World Famous Dock Lunch restaurant in Penetanguishene hosted Front-Line Friday to honour healthcare workers and raise funds for Georgian Bay General Hospital. Through the sale of special meal deals, restaurant owners Nick & Marina Boudouris donated $1,000 to the GBGH Foundation.
“We are happy to be able to give back in some way during these uncertain times,” says Nick. “Our hospital is a vital part of the community, especially during a global pandemic, and we want to do our part to make sure they have what they need to care for everyone who comes through their doors. There are so many local businesses stepping up to help the hospital, and it really makes us feel like we are all in this together.”
This is not the first time GBGH has benefitted from the Boudouris Family’s generosity. In December, the GBGH Foundation’s Giving Tuesday campaign raised $26,500 to purchase patient slings, in part thanks to a $10,000 matching gift from Nick & Marina Boudouris.
“Nick & Marina are an amazing example of a Business Cares Partner for the Foundation,” says Nicole Kraftscik, executive director, GBGH Foundation. “They are always looking for ways to give back, and support our hospital in whatever way they can. Even though their business has changed with all the physical distancing requirements, they are still finding ways to honour our hospital.”
Fifty new patient slings, purchased through the Giving Tuesday campaign, arrived at GBGH on April 9th. Various types and sizes of slings will provide patients throughout the hospital with the ability to get out of bed to take a bath or shower, move into a wheelchair so they can become mobile again, or help a stroke patient begin to take the first steps toward recovery.
