“Tay” Canada Day 2024 Celebrations Raise $22,800 for Community Organizations
The “Tay” Canada Day Committee is proud to announce that this year’s event raised an impressive $22,800, which has been donated to a variety of community organizations. Through the hard work and dedication of volunteers and supporters, the committee has been able to give back to the community in significant ways.
Donations were distributed to the following organizations:
- VH Lions Golf Tourney: $200
- Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament Tee Off With Tay: $5,000
- MS Society: $100
- Portarama: $250
- Port McNicoll Anglers & Hunters: $250
Additional donations made after the event include:
- Georgian Bay General Hospital (MRI Machine): $8,500
- VH St. Vincent de Paul Foodbank: $2,000
- Georgian Bay Airboat Rescue: $1,500
- Georgian Bay Cancer Support: $1,000
- Hospice Huronia: $1,000
- Port McNicoll Thunder Ball: $500
- VH Hornets Ball: $500
- Benny Club: $500
- VH Culture & Rec Committee: $500
- Port McNicoll Youth Group: $500
- We are the Villagers: $500
On Wednesday August 21, 2024 in the Tay Township Council chambers cheques were presented to the VH St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, Hospice Huronia, Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre and Georgian Bay General Hospital (MRI Fundraiser).
The “Tay” Canada Day event is organized by a dedicated committee of community volunteers who work tirelessly to make each year’s festivities a success. The involvement of other groups, such as the Victoria Harbour Lions, Port McNicoll Anglers & Hunters and the Royal Canadian Legion, adds to the weekend’s festivities and brings the community together in support of these important causes. To date this committee has donated $154,800 to local causes.
