$32K Gift from Township of Tiny Boosts Impact Fund and Recruitment

During a meeting on September 17, 2025, Township of Tiny Mayor David Evans and members of council presented a gift of $32,000 to representatives of Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) and the Foundation.  The investment includes $20,000 for the GBGH Foundation’s Impact Fund, and $12,000 to support physician recruitment efforts for the community.  

“We are really pleased with the developments that have happened this year at GBGH, not only the MRI but all the technology that allows the team to provide first class health care service,” shared Mayor Evans. “We’re very happy to be able to provide this gift on behalf of the people of Tiny Township, to express our gratitude for everything our hospital does.” 

The Township of Tiny has recognized the vital role that quality healthcare plays in the well-being of our residents and has continuously demonstrated its commitment to fostering a strong and resilient healthcare system. A steadfast supporter of GBGH for 25 years, the township has provided more than $407,000 for hospital equipment and technology. In 2025, the donation will help to address some of the most urgent priorities, including new surgical tools, stretchers, laboratory equipment and medication carts. 

“This generous gift from the Township of Tiny is a powerful example of how community support drives meaningful change in local healthcare,” says Nicole Kraftscik, CEO, GBGH Foundation. “Our Impact Fund enables us to respond quickly to the hospital’s most urgent needs, and this donation will help ensure our care teams have the tools they need to deliver excellent, personal care.” 

The $12,000 donation will support physician recruitment efforts, helping attract and retain skilled professionals to serve the growing needs of the region.

Tee Off With Tay Raises $62,000 for Local Causes With $24,000 Going to GBGH Foundation

On August 15, 2025, golfers, sponsors, and community supporters gathered at Midland Golf & Country Club for the inaugural Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament, Tee Off With Tay. The sold-out event was filled with fun, friendly competition, and a shared commitment to giving back, raising an incredible $62,000 to support local causes.

The funds raised are already making a difference across our community, benefiting Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation, Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, Tay Shores Public Elementary School, and St. Antoine Daniel Catholic Elementary School.

Here at GBGH Foundation, we were honoured to receive $24,000 from the tournament proceeds, which will be used to purchase a new portable patient lift — vital equipment that enhances patient safety and supports staff in providing excellent care.

“This lift allows us to safely help a patient out of bed, out of a chair, or, in the event of a fall, assist them back to standing. It’s designed to meet the needs of patients of all sizes (up to 500 lbs) while protecting staff from injury. Because it’s portable and on wheels, it can go anywhere in the hospital, which makes it a game-changer for safe, quality care,” says Logan Wood, physiotherapist and professional practice lead at GBGH.

The success of Tee Off With Tay was made possible thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, who all came together to make this year’s event an outstanding success.

“We are so grateful to Mayor Ted Walker and the Township of Tay for leading this initiative, and to every golfer, sponsor, and volunteer who came together to make such a tremendous impact,” says Robyn Kaczanowski, community giving officer at GBGH Foundation. “This new equipment will have a lasting impact on the care we can provide, and we are so proud to be part of such a generous community.”
