The Midland Civitan Club has once again demonstrated its deep commitment to local healthcare with a $5,000 donation to the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation, supporting the Foundation’s efforts to bring a Mammography program to GBGH.

This contribution builds on more than 25 years of steadfast support from the Club, whose members have continuously invested in equipment, technology, and programs that strengthen care close to home.

“Our Civitan Club has supported our local hospitals for decades, going back to when we had the Huronia Hospital and Penetanguishene General Hospital,” shares Mike Tinney, President, Midland Civitan Club. “We have always been supportive in an effort to acknowledge the importance of having a hospital in our own community. We are very fortunate to have our own hospital here in North Simcoe, and I think that our local hospital is the single most important part of our community.”

The new Mammography program is a key component of the Foundation’s We See You campaign, a multi-year effort to expand access to critical diagnostic services and mental health supports within the community. Thanks to the Midland Civitan Club, and many other donors, this aspect of the campaign has now been fully funded, bringing GBGH one step closer to offering life-saving breast imaging in our community.

“We are so grateful for the Midland Civitan Club’s ongoing generosity and community spirit,” says Victoria Evans, senior key relationships officer, GBGH Foundation. “Their continued support helps us invest in modern equipment and vital services that ensure every patient is seen, supported, and cared for close to home.”

The We See You campaign is a bold goal to raise $20-million to build an acute mental health wing at GBGH, and invest in priority medical equipment & technology across every department of the hospital. It is about transforming the patient experience, ensuring no one in crisis is left waiting, and equipping our teams with the right tools in the right spaces.

It was a perfect summer evening for a great cause as Larry and Liz Marshall hosted their 5th Annual Oak Bay Corn Roast on September 3, 2025. With nearly 60 guests in attendance, the event raised an incredible $2,052 in support of the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation’s “We See You” Capital Campaign.

 

What started as a neighbourhood get-together has grown into a heartwarming annual tradition that combines fun, food, and philanthropy. Over the past five years, the Marshalls’ Corn Roast has raised more than $7,500 to help fund critical hospital priorities, ranging from essential equipment to the hospital’s new MRI. This year’s event brought together friends, family, and neighbours for an evening of connection and generosity, all in support of strengthening local health care.

“Every year, we’re amazed by the support and kindness of our community,” say Larry and Liz Marshall. “We host this event because GBGH means so much to all of us, and we’re proud to help make a difference close to home.”

The Marshalls also extended special thanks to the McBride Riders for generously providing their tent for the event, and to a group of local children who hosted a bake sale, raising an additional $170 to add to the total.

“The Oak Bay Corn Roast is a perfect example of how community spirit can fuel excellent care,” says Robyn Kaczanowski, community giving officer, GBGH Foundation. “Larry and Liz have turned a simple summer tradition into a powerful way to give back, and we’re so grateful for their continued generosity.”

Jeff Holloway, Director

Jeff works at RBC Dominion Securities in Midland and joined RBC Wealth Management in 2014. In his current role, Jeff provides wealth management solutions to business owners, executives, professionals, and retirees.

Prior to working at RBC, Jeff was a partner at a leadership consulting firm and was a vice president at a Fortune 500 consulting company. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) while working for a multinational audit, tax, and consulting firm, he was the Controller at the National Hockey League Players’ Association.

Jeff was born in Kitchener-Waterloo and spent most of his childhood living in Owen Sound.  He moved to the Midland area full-time in 2019. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honors degree in Mathematics (Computer Science). Jeff also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.

Jeff is very supportive of many worthwhile causes in our local community. Currently, he is the Treasurer for the Quest Art School and Gallery in Midland.
