Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) does not have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine, so every year 4,000 patients have to travel to Barrie or Orillia (more than 40km away) and often wait days or even months to receive an MRI.
But you can help change that today.
The Ministry of Health recently announced that GBGH has received approval for operational funding for an MRI, if our community is willing to fund the capital investment costs to bring this life-saving technology to Midland.
What this means is that while the government is willing to cover the operating costs for the MRI, we MUST raise more than $4-million to purchase the MRI and retrofit space in our building to fit the technology. And the only way we’re going to be able to do that is if our community rallies together to make it a reality.
Will you make a special donation today to help bring care closer to home for the thousands of patients who are waiting for an MRI?
We raise funds for Georgian Bay General Hospital because the Ontario government does not pay for equipment for hospitals.
We rely on community donations to fund critical equipment and technology so that the physicians and staff can provide the best care.
