We are so honoured to have Mary Harvey as a Director on the GBGH Foundation Board. We asked Mary to share why being on the Board is so important to her.
Please introduce yourself!
I am Mary Harvey and I reside in Cedar Point, which is the mainland portion of my home community of Beausoleil First Nation. I was born in Midland and lived on Christian Island for a time before relocating to Ravenna, Ontario. There I met my husband of 45 years, and we have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren who we love dearly. Over the years I have pursued various entrepreneurial roles in hospitality, restaurant management, catering and retail.
How long have you been a member of the GBGH Foundation Board of Directors, and why did you decide to join the Foundation Board?
I have been a member of Georgian Bay General Hospital Board of Directors for almost 3 years now and thoroughly enjoy the experience of working with a wonderful team to help work towards the betterment of our community hospital. I am a proud member of Beausoleil First Nation and I am always happy to assist fellow community members whenever I can.
Why is having a great hospital in our community important to you?
For the community of Chimnissing, the importance of a great hospital being readily available within close proximity when our community is in need of Healthcare is vital not just for now, but for future generations. This is one of many reasons I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the board. I hope that I continue to devote my time to the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation in the coming years.
