2026 SEGBAY Charity Golf Tournament & Online Auction

Tournament Date: August 20, 2026

The 13th annual SEGBAY Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will take place at Oak Bay Golf Club in Port Severn on Thursday, August 20, 2026!

This year’s event will use a shotgun start beginning at 11:00am and is presented in partnership with Pure Country 106 and BOUNCE 104.1.

Funds raised support the GBGH Foundation’s We See You: Inside and Out campaign – investing in renovations to patient rooms in the ICU at GBGH, along with the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre – with contributions supporting the Brian & Anita Millet GAP Fund.

About the Tournament:

In 2014, members of the South East Georgian Bay (SEGBAY) Chamber of Commerce organized their first golf tournament in support of Georgian Bay General Hospital. The team of volunteers, led by the late Paul Herriott (Past President, SEGBAY) and Fred Wareing (Vice President, SEGBAY), in conjunction with Pure Country 106 and BOUNCE 104.1, had such success that the event has become an annual fundraiser for the hospital.

The event has raised more than $368,000 for GBGH, for the Emergency Department revitalization project, for the renovation of rooms on the inpatient units, surgical services and critical medical equipment.

Typically held in early August, the event features many sampling stations, games and challenges in the spirit of fun and fundraising.

“We are proud to support our local hospital and the cancer support centre with this tournament. Our chamber members, local businesses and service organizations, like the Baxter Ward Lions Club, all come together to raise important funds to help our community.”

Drop the Ball – Helicopter Drop Raffle

Initiated by The Family & Friends of Gail La Chapelle, the Drop the Ball raffle involves dropping 16,000 golf balls from a helicopter hovering at 150 feet above the Midland Golf & Country Club, hole #1 on August 4th, 2019.

The purchase price is one ball for $20 or three for $50. Each golf ball will be numbered to coincide with the number allocated for each ticket sold. All prizes will be awarded to those lucky individuals whose golf ball lands in the hole or the ball that is closest to the pin identified by the nine coloured flags placed within the drop zone area. Each coloured flag represents a specific item. Please review the prize list below.

NOTE: If more than one golf ball enters the hole of any of the coloured flags, those balls will be placed in a drum, where the winner will be determined by the first ball out. Those remaining in the drum will receive a complimentary prize. If in the event no balls enter the hole, the winner will be determined by a measurement to determine which ball is closest.

Funds raised from the raffle will be donated to Georgian Bay General Hospital (Charity #: 11896 5789 RR0001). Tickets are available in the Foundation Office at Georgian Bay General Hospital (705-526-4483).

We encourage you to join us for the Ball Drop on August 4th, 2019 beginning at 1:00 pm to witness this once in a lifetime golf event.
