Spreading Cheer for a Good Cause: Holiday Event Sales Support GBGH Foundation

This holiday season, Heather Yates and her mother returned to Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) to host their annual holiday planter and lantern sales and add a festive touch to the homes of GBGH staff and visitors while giving back in a meaningful way.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who shopped, 25% of all proceeds from the November 19th and 26th sales events were donated to the GBGH Foundation’s “We See You” campaign, for a total of $202.50. These funds will address the hospital’s highest priority needs and help ensure GBGH teams have the essential tools and resources needed to provide excellent care.

Small acts of generosity can have a big impact.

Celia’s Bake Sale Raises $13,575 for New Neonatal Vital Signs Monitor at GBGH

Mike & Melissa Robinson and family recently visited the GBGH Foundation to deliver the proceeds from Celia’s Bake Sale — a remarkable $13,575 — to support the purchase of a new Neonatal Vital Signs Monitor for the GBGH Birthing Unit. This vital equipment will help ensure the tiniest patients receive safe, high-quality care from their first moments of life.

Since 2020, Celia’s Bake Sale has raised an incredible $51,925 in honour of Mike and Melissa’s daughter, Celia Marie, who passed away at GBGH on Christmas Day 2019. What started as a heartfelt tribute has grown into a powerful community effort, bringing together local residents, businesses, and families to make a lasting impact.

The Robinson family extends special thanks to the local businesses who supported this year’s Bake Sale by collecting donations and encouraging participation: Boulangers Midland City Bakers, Café Kittyhawk, World Famous Dock Lunch, Grounded Coffee, Mega Mindful Living, Royal Tea on King, Shana’s Baked Goods, and the PULSE Nutrition.

“Celia’s legacy continues to touch lives in our community,” says Robyn Kaczanowski, community giving officer, GBGH Foundation. “Every dollar raised through this inspiring initiative helps us provide the very best care for our youngest patients.”
