Raytheon ELCAN and the Midland Legion team up to support veteran care in our community.

Raytheon ELCAN and the Midland Legion have raised $12,000 to “Adopt-A-Room” at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH). Upon completion, this four-bed ward room will be available to the community, including the many veterans residing in the area.

Improving care for its users is an ongoing goal of the GBGH Foundation, and by adopting a room honouring area veterans, Raytheon ELCAN and the Midland Legion aim to support that need. The GBGH Foundation Adopt-A Room program offers donors the opportunity to renovate and update patient rooms throughout the hospital. A patient’s environment has a significant impact on his/her healing process. Research has found that the more attractive the environment, the lower the anxiety for the patient and the better the recovery outcome. Some studies show that ‘high-touch’ treatments and a healing environment account for as much as 80 per cent of healing, yet most hospital rooms are not built, furnished or decorated with this in mind.
