GBGH Interim CEO Announced
A few weeks ago, we shared the news with you that Gail Hunt will be leaving Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) to take on the role of President & CEO at RVH in Barrie.
While the GBGH Board of Directors works to find a permanent replacement for Gail, it is my pleasure to share with you today that the role of GBGH Interim President & CEO will be filled by Matthew Lawson, effective June 24, 2022.
Matthew is currently the Executive Vice-President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer at GBGH. Since he joined GBGH in May 2021, he has been instrumental in transforming many aspects of the hospital, including budgeting, resource allocation and capital equipment processes. He has also been a driving force in GBGH’s master planning process to secure a future hospital and push forward approvals of our proposed mental health program.
“I am honoured to be appointed to this role during such a critical time for GBGH as we continue striving to improve services for this community,” says Matthew. “Our hospital is well aware of where we need to focus our efforts in the present and future as we consistently experience increased demand for services and continue facing the ongoing operational challenges and lasting impacts created by the pandemic.”
I have personally had the opportunity to work closely with Matthew over the past year, and it is clear that he is committed to driving the mission and vision of our hospital forward. He understands the vital role that our donors play in the continued strength of our hospital, and values your continued partnership.
