Changes at GBGH
It’s said there is nothing permanent…except change!
You have likely already heard that Gail Hunt will be leaving Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) in June to take on the role of President & CEO at Royal Victoria’s Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie. In case you missed it, the news release is available here. We sincerely wish Gail all the best in her new role!
During her time at GBGH, Gail has been committed to growing GBGH from the perspective of investing in people, creating a culture of continuous learning, aligning services with community needs, and purposefully and responsibly allocating resources.
Gail has also established strategic partnerships with other healthcare organizations, including RVH, to maximize efficiencies and advance patient-centred care.
Most recently, Gail and the GBGH Leadership Team, along with the GBGH Board of Directors, have been actively engaged in master planning to ensure our hospital services align with our community’s needs today and in the future. As a result, plans for a comprehensive acute mental health program are with the Ministry of Health for Stage 2 approval. The development of a new hospital is also on the horizon, and a Stage 1 proposal has also been submitted to the Ministry of Health.
On behalf of the Foundation Board of Directors, and our staff team, we are excited about these plans to transform health care for our community, and we are thrilled to share this vision with our community. You are an important partner for Georgian Bay General Hospital and the GBGH Foundation, and together, we will continue to empower Georgian Bay General Hospital to deliver exceptional health care.
The position of Interim CEO for GBGH will be announced shortly, but in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Nicole Kraftscik, Executive Director (kraftscikn@gbgh.on.ca) if you have any questions or would like to learn more about the future plans for our Georgian Bay General Hospital.
Sincerely,
Katie Houston
Chair, GBGH Foundation Board of Directors
