Cornerstone Partner & Legacy Donor Spotlight: Michael & Lynda Hobbs
When Michael and Lynda Hobbs retired, they were drawn to the Midland area not just for its peaceful beauty and outdoor lifestyle, but because it felt like home. Lynda grew up nearby, and the couple knew this was where they wanted to build the next chapter of their lives.
What they didn’t expect was how quickly their connection to this community, and to Georgian Bay General Hospital, would grow.
A Personal Connection to Local Health Care
“Both of us have been patients at GBGH,” Lynda shares. “And what impressed us most was the feeling that the team here isn’t just getting by, they’re constantly working to improve. Whether it’s better emergency care or easier access to testing, you can see the hospital is focused on moving forward.”
The Hobbs’ first-hand experiences with compassionate, high-quality care led them to become more deeply involved. Today, Michael and Lynda are proud Cornerstone Partners, supporting the GBGH Foundation with a committed annual gift that helps fund the hospital’s most urgent priorities.
Planning Ahead with Purpose
But their support doesn’t stop there. Michael and Lynda have also chosen to include the GBGH Foundation in their Wills, joining the Gil Robillard Legacy Society — a special group of donors committed to sustaining health care in our region for generations to come.
“The hospital has produced real, tangible results with the purchase of much-needed equipment,” says Lynda. “As we get older, we’re less inclined to travel long distances for care. Having access to diagnostics and treatment right here in Midland makes a big difference.”
Their giving is rooted in a shared belief: that local health care matters. Now, and into the future.
Supporting What Matters Most
From supporting urgent equipment needs today to planning for tomorrow’s care, Michael and Lynda are helping GBGH remain strong, responsive, and accessible for everyone in North Simcoe.
“We want to put our energy and our support into what matters most,” Lynda says. “For us, that means health care close to home.”
