This summer, the Glenn Howard Charity Golf Classic is once again bringing people together in support of Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH). 

 

Taking place on Friday, July 17 at the Midland Golf & Country Club, the annual tournament has become a powerful reflection of what happens when a community rallies around its hospital—combining generosity, connection, and a shared commitment to healthcare close to home. 

While this year’s event is already sold out, there are still ways the community can participate to help make an impact.  

Community partners and local businesses continue to play an important role in the success of the tournament. Sponsorship opportunities and community giving initiatives offer meaningful ways to get involved—whether through financial support, in-kind contributions, or by helping raise awareness. 

Scotiabank is an example of a strong partnership that continues to grow over time. Since 2023, they have been a major sponsor, including a $15,000 contribution in 2025 to help bring a new Mammography program to GBGH. This year, they are building on that spirit of giving by inviting customers and community members to take part alongside them. 

Donations made at the Midland branch will be recognized on a special tournament curling rock, offering a simple way for individuals to show their support and be part of something bigger.

“This tournament is such a powerful example of people coming together for their hospital,” says Robyn Kaczanowski, community giving officer, GBGH Foundation. “Support like this helps ensure that patients and families in our community can access excellent diagnosis and treatment close to home. It’s a reminder that behind every dollar is someone choosing to stand with their hospital—and that matters more than anything.” 

“At Scotiabank, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities we serve,” says Terry Hampson, wealth management consultant, Scotia Wealth Management and tournament volunteer. “Supporting GBGH is one way we can help make a real difference locally. We’re proud to have been part of last year’s tournament and are pleased to invite the community to join us again in supporting their hospital.” 

Led by Canadian curling champion Glenn Howard, the tournament continues to unite volunteers, sponsors, and participants around a shared goal—investing in equipment, technology, and programs that strengthen health care at GBGH and help ensure patients feel seen and supported when they need it most. 

In addition to making a donation at Scotiabank in Midland, the community can also get involved and contribute to the cause in two other ways: 

      1. through an online auction that will open to the public July 3rd
      2. by joining members of the Glenn Howard Charity Golf Committee & Scotiabank at Kelsey’s Midland’s Kickback Night on Wednesday, July 8th from 5-8pm.

The Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation is proud to welcome Factory Recreation as a Business Cares Strategic Partner, as the locally owned business marks 40 years of adventure by giving back to the community that has supported them for decades.

 

As part of their anniversary celebration in 2026, Factory Recreation is launching a special give‑back initiative in support of the local hospital. For every new transaction on a 2026 model purchased in‑store, Factory Recreation will donate $100 to the GBGH Foundation, helping to fund urgently needed equipment and technology at GBGH. This initiative also aligns with the company’s recent commitment as a Strategic Partner through the Foundation’s Business Cares program.

“We love our Georgian Bay community and take pride in providing friendly, knowledgeable service for all your snow-covered and warm weather adventures,” says Doug Sagan, who co-owns Factory Recreation with Donny Woods. “Partnering with the GBGH Foundation allows us to give back to the people who make this region so special, ensuring everyone has access to quality health care — local residents and seasonal visitors alike.”

Serving Southern Georgian Bay, Factory Recreation is one of Ontario’s largest dealers of Ski‑Doo and Sea‑Doo vehicles, as well as ATVs, UTVs, boats, and more. From new and pre‑owned inventory to a full parts and service department, their factory‑trained technicians help ensure every vehicle runs safely and efficiently — whether for sun or snow. For four decades, Factory Recreation has supported a true four‑season lifestyle, building lasting relationships with customers across the region.

Through the GBGH Foundation’s Business Cares program, Factory Recreation is deepening its commitment to local health care as a Strategic Partner, investing $25,000 over five years, while marking its 40th anniversary with a give‑back initiative that supports urgently needed equipment and technology at Georgian Bay General Hospital.

Jeff Holloway, Director

Jeff works at RBC Dominion Securities in Midland and joined RBC Wealth Management in 2014. In his current role, Jeff provides wealth management solutions to business owners, executives, professionals, and retirees.

Prior to working at RBC, Jeff was a partner at a leadership consulting firm and was a vice president at a Fortune 500 consulting company. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) while working for a multinational audit, tax, and consulting firm, he was the Controller at the National Hockey League Players’ Association.

Jeff was born in Kitchener-Waterloo and spent most of his childhood living in Owen Sound.  He moved to the Midland area full-time in 2019. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honors degree in Mathematics (Computer Science). Jeff also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.

Jeff is very supportive of many worthwhile causes in our local community. Currently, he is the Treasurer for the Quest Art School and Gallery in Midland.
