During the August long weekend, Maple Leaf Marinas once again hosted their annual ‘Fuel Your Hospital’ fundraiser, an anticipated and well-loved event by the Georgian Bay boating community.

From August 2-5, Maple Leaf Marinas, in partnership with fuel supplier Mayes Martin, donated 12¢ per litre of fuel sold at five of their local marine locations (Wye Heritage Marine Resort, Bay Port Yachting Centre, Beacon Bay Marina, South Bay Cove Marina, and Bluewater Lodge and Marina) to the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation.

This year, $13,000 was donated to the GBGH Foundation from the event, the largest annual gift since the fundraiser began in 2020. Funds raised this year are designated to the Foundation’s MRI Fund, helping to bring MRI technology to our community and care closer to home.

On November 10, 2024, a group of 55 women came together at Rawley Resort in Port Severn for an Afternoon Tea to raise funds for Mammography equipment at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH). The event raised $3,500 for the hospital through silent auction, raffle and tea leaf readings from Just Believe Boutique & Team Room.

Funds raised from the event will help bring mammography services to GBGH, easing the burden of travel for patients in our community, improving wait times and ensuring that excellent care can be provided close to home.

A special thank you to Olimpia Marchetti of Port Severn who donated her time to play the piano throughout the event, the Baxter Ward Lions club for executing and donating the proceeds of the 50/50 raffle, and to all of the local artist’s who generously donated to the silent auction: Paul Breslin, Karen Amos, Heather Kertzer, and Karen Bernardo.
